In America people part with their kids at a tender teenage age ..mostly after high school they expect them to go away...away from home find there own place and learn to survive alone (i know all american folks are not like this) ... i can understand that they expect them to be more responsible for themselves...but does this really shape's them well??
This shrink(otherwise known as psycologist) guy over the TV was discussing...why youth in US are not doing well... and he gave the same argument as mine...why do you kick out your kids when they need your guidance and support in life...why kids have to work at pizza parlours...delivery guys...and odd jobs when they should be understanding the world within security and control of parents...he also said that kids eventually get habituated to make money easy way and gradually stop working hard in life....thats is the reason US has a shortage of executives..managers..engineers...
This brings me to think about Indian education scenario..
Graduation is a big thing in US..and Post Grad is even bigger.....while back home......Indians doesn't appreciate your degrees unless you have a top job. Its somewhat logical...but not entirely...many people follow there dreams and not bucks....this might take longer to reach at at certain stability point. but who understands all this...its simply 'paisa' that matters.Summarize it to your education will not be applauded untill it earns you big bucks, you mean really big bucks...no matter even if you graduated from IIT as a Post-Grad and start working from IT firm as a s/w developer. You see directionless education is what we have..so much for a perspective ..and often seen that people start living to work and the learning stops. I believe in "knowledge is power"..so no knowledge put to use and hence no power...
The above paragraph best depicts the reason why we are still developing despite of 1.2 billion brains to think.
