Letting off the steam..

People in 25+ age group must've realized by now that what our education system imparts is literacy and not knowledge. One of my recent communications with a colleague, lets call him 'Yo' goes like this.

Yo: Arre dont touch my tiffin...i will give it to you else jhoota ho jaayega!
Me: Jhoota what jhotta my hands are clean...
Yo: arre purane log jo kehte hai main to un sab cheezo ko maanta hun...(I believe in old sayings)
Me: Accha tell me the reason why people say things like this?
Yo: Kyonki yeh sadiyo se chala aa raha hai...aap bhi to pundit ho aapko nahin pata? (Because this is being said/ followed since ages, and I am a Brahmin by caste I should knw this)
Me: Kya? (What?)
Yo: Ki jhoota nahin khana chahiye (Do not eat /share food with others )
Me: But can you give me why they said things like this in ancient times? Can you give me a logical explaination behind this adage?
Yo: Arre its so difficult to convince you...leave it...
Me: Arre if you simply adapt things from the past and continue to follow them without knowing why...you are not growing you make yourself stale..and stale stinks (Ok i did not use the same words...but the one i used meant the same)
Yo: Leave it...I am not going for it ..I know what old ppl say is true and to be followed.

At this point I was full of anger ...i managed a smile and step away to vent off some steam....while analysing this later I remembered that 'Yo' had a master degree in science was just 22 years old and lacked inquistiveness which is typicall of this age group. He has never read a single book other than studies.

Conclusion I hate religious fanatics and underdeveloped brains.

I read Vivekananda once when i was in college, I do not remember title of the book, but i remember it talked about Veda's and Hinduism... It taught me not to blindly follow eveything that come your way. But to analyse and reason with things....I admit I am a devout Hindu...and that is why I believe in every religion that leads to God. Hindhuism is not a Religion ...it is a way to live , to think, and thrive.
I hate so called Brahmins with 100's of commitments and rituals in the name of religion and not even one percent of sprituality.
If religion is the one suppose to carry you to GOD than is this religion? A big NO.

I hate it when younglings around me just dont want to think or delve in our rich heritage...look for things which are there but not visible. With a nation blinded with "everything thats foreign is good" kind of culture, we need more of people with depth, vision and inquistiveness. Only then we can build our nation.

I always have a lot of spritual discussions with my friends, irrespective of their religion. I have always realised that It doesnt matter what path you take when you seek the same destination.

Oh yes...before I finish...i learnt something at my Stay in US. Religion is best practised when adapted as a personal thing. Things which the masses follow arent always right.
